A downloadable game

You're a researcher searching for an ancient plant that could save your civilization. This plant, however, is lost in time, and looking for it in the present will not get you anywhere.  Using the mind of a scientist and the hands of a crafter, you create a time suit that lets you go back in time to when the plants weren't extinct yet, and had no use for anyone.

But you're not the only one after your knowledge.

Forge your way out of constant enemy forces after you, survive as long as you can, collect materials, craft better equipment, and fight your way through endless time to save the dying humanity in this endless, survival-shooter.

Survivesmith is a game inspired by games like Vampire Survivors, DRG Survivor, Mars Survivors (Android-Mobile), etc. This game is similar in its basic elements to all these games but also has a slight twist that could greatly change the experience for the player.

Features common to other lone-survivor games:

  • A single controllable character that can move around a top-down 2D play area.
  • Automatic targeting and shooting at the closest enemy.
  • Resource drops on enemy death.
  • Multiple biomes.
  • Multiple types of primary weapons.
  • Multiple special weapons and character upgrades.
  • Timed wave spawns, boss spawns at predefined intervals, and victory after a predefined time.
  • Roguelike element where you can upgrade the character in-run (temporary) and off-run (permanent).
  • etc.

Features unique (I believe) to Survivesmith:

  • Different weapon categories with unique reload systems.
    •  Magazine-based weapons: Fires all the bullets in the magazine before reloading back to full.
    • Stamina-based weapons: Firing uses a set amount of stamina, and stamina replenishes when not firing.
    • Charge-based weapons: Fires one bullet at a time. Uses the full reload duration to charge one bullet.
    • Heat-based weapons: Fires infinitely until the weapon overheats, which results in a cooldown period. The weapon cools down when not firing.
  • RNG-based primary weapon choice at the start of each run (one choice from each weapon category).
  • Travel through multiple biomes (times) within the same run to fight different enemies and collect different resources. Each biome has its own boss enemy.
  • RNG-based biome generation. Each run spawns 5 biomes at set intervals, each new biome requiring the slaying of a biome-specific boss.
  • In-run upgrades separated into two different systems.
    • Primary weapon/character stat upgrades: These upgrades include player HP, weapon damage, weapon fire-rate, weapon magazine size, etc. Defeating enemies grant XP, which levels up the character. Each level up grants the player a stat point to upgrade their desired stat.
    • Special weapon/character power-ups and upgrades: These upgrades include an array of special weapons to aid the player on top of the primary weapon, and also many augmentations to the player itself, which may drastically improve the chances of survival. Defeating enemies unique to each biome will drop resources that can be used to craft these special weapons and player augmentations within the run.
  • Switch between automatic firing mode and manual firing mode as the player desires.

This game is still under development and most of the features above are not implemented yet. I wasn't planning to release this page until I'm close to getting a playable game but, the tides have changed and I'm speeding things up a little bit.

I'll be posting some general updates here in the form of devlogs AFTER each significant addition/change to the game. In the meantime, you can check out my twitter/X for daily updates on the game and my YouTube channel for an in-depth showcase of weekly updates.

Thank you for the visit!
