Player & Enemy abilities
Enemy attacks & special abilities
Certain enemies and mini-bosses now have special attacks/abilities. The rest will be added in a later update. Go check them out!
- Menace (already had an ability in previous versions): Chases the player, drops a bomb close to them, runs away, and self-destructs.
- Guard: Shields themselves from all damage for a few seconds after taking the first hit.
- Militia: Spawns 2 additional militia around them when they spawn.
- Runner: A fast enemy who drops a bomb on the spot when destroyed.
- Stealth: Conceals themselves until getting close to the player.
- Sniper: Stops at a distance and snipes the player.
- Mini-boss 1: Shoots bursts of 3 slow projectiles at the player.
- Mini-boss 2: Drops bombs on his path.
Player abilities
The player now has 2 tactical abilities.
- Movement ability (E) - Dodge roll: Roll in the direction you are moving, evading all damage and with a slightly higher movement speed. Can be used again momentarily after a dodge.
- Tactical ability (Q) - Weapon Overcharge: Charges your primary weapon to the max, doubling the fire rate and reload speed for a few seconds. Takes a while to recharge after using.
The tactical ability cooldown is also shown in the UI at the bottom of the screen.
Changes to how stat upgrades work
I have made a slight nerf to how stat upgrades on level-up work. Previously, leveling up stats such as power or agility made the player quite literally unkillable and made the primary weapon feel entirely different from what it's meant to be. While I understand that overpowering your weapons are fun, I wanted the primary weapon to keep its feel as close as possible to its original throughout a run. Therefore, I made the following changes:
- Enhancements on stat upgrades now progressively unlock new stats, which have a chance to be upgraded on level up.
- Power upgrades will always upgrade weapon damage, while reload speed and fire rate are based on chance.
- Vitality upgrades will always upgrade max HP, while HP regen and item pickup distance (new addition) are based on chance.
- Agility enhancements are in the works. Currently, Agility upgrades will always upgrade movement speed and invulnerability duration.
- The base upgrade amount of all stats is now doubled only after unlocking the 5th enhancement tier of the relevant enhancement.
This change will hopefully change the feel of each run by giving luck a chance to play on stat boosts and make each lucky upgrade feel more rewarding. The base stats of the primary weapon have also been improved to adjust to the new change.
Other Changes
- Adjusted the light intensity and the animation on the enemy bombs to feel more realistic.
- Increased the max camera zoom-out distance from 6 to 8.
- Removed the misaligned slider filler in the in-game settings.
- Added new slime sprite and animations.
