Random events, new gadgets, upgrade paths and weapons!


New Feature: Random Events

Random events start randomly during a run and can last for 1 minute. While completing these events is optional, doing so will grant you valuable rewards. Currently, there is one random event called "Crystal Giant". This giant carries crystal shards on itself and roams around the field. The location of the giant will be shown with a black arrowhead beside the player. Defeating this giant will drop many crystal shards on its location.

New Gadgets

The player can now equip 2 gadgets per run. As a balancing aspect, secondary weapons are now completely removed. But don't worry, some of these gadgets are much better than secondaries.

  • Sentry Bot: This bot follows you around and shoots a hail of bullets at random enemies. Anything on its path is sure to be decimated!
  • Healix: This bot follows you around while hacking nearby enemies. Healix slowly regenerates energy while hacking and deals a low amount of damage to enemies being hacked. When Healix has fully regenerated its energy, it will change its ray to either a more powerful hack-ray to deal a lot more damage to enemies, or to a "healing ray' which regenerates HP to the player using its stored energy.

Gadgets can now be swapped using the same key as the weapon swap key bind (Left Ctrl / Left Shoulder Button).

Upgrade Paths

In-run equipment upgrades can now lead to different upgrade paths! These paths may significantly change the equipment behavior or improve existing stats. Currently, the Rocket Cluster special weapon has 3 different upgrade paths.

  • Advanced Rocket Cluster: Greatly improves rocket stats.
  • Swarm Rocket Cluster: Continuously fires mini-rockets.
  • Napalm Rocket Cluster: Rockets drop napalm on the ground when destroyed. This napalm burns the ground and damages any enemies that step on it.

New Primary Weapons

With the removal of secondary weapons, 2 new primary weapons have been added.

  • Pistol: Decent fire rate and damage with a low magazine size. Has fast reload speed.
  • Shotgun: Fast-firing shotgun that fires multiple pellets in a spread. Has varying bullet damage and velocity. Works better in close range.

Other Changes

  • Equipment Upgrades in-run are now randomly selected for the player, providing a more randomized progression throughout each run.
  • Added a new equipment selection strip to the Equipment Menu UI. Now its much more visible to the player which equipment are available for them and is easier to select each equipment.
  • Added 2 new types of berries that have a chance to spawn in berry bushes.
    • Gold Berry: Heals 3 times as much as a normal berry.
    • Poison Berry: Deals damage to the player instead of healing them.
  • Primary weapon no longer has upgrades in-run.
  • You can now spawn the final boss at any time after completing the primary objective. Hold Space to spawn.
  • Equipment upgrade descriptions are now shown in the equipment upgrade UI.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issue with some berry bushes never growing berries.
  • Rocket cluster and homing missile volumes should now change with volume settings.
  • The player will no longer perform actions when the game is paused.

Known Issues

  • New biome segments still load late in some instances.
  • There is a significant lag when firing the first shot in the game.
  • Right-clicking on different UI elements still triggers the click sound without doing anything.
  • In rare cases, damage instances on the player occurs multiple times within a very short amount of time.
  • Volume settings are not properly synced with the settings menu accessed via the main menu.
