Survivesmith: A combination of lone-survivor and crafter genres


Development so far:

Survivesmith is a top-down, 2D, lone-survivor game with crafting elements. I have discussed every major feature of this game in my main game page. This is a post on the status of the game as of now.

Completed features:

  • Playable character that can move around using WASD keys or arrow keys.
  • 4 enemy waves and 1 boss wave.
  • A new enemy wave spawns every 30 seconds; a new boss spawns every 2 minutes.
  • 3 enemy types and one boss enemy.
  • 2 weapons: Pistol (magazine) and Sword (stamina).
  • 2 different reload and firing systems for the above two weapon types.
  • 2 special weapons: Spinner and Homing Missile.
  • 4 biomes with 4 different resource drops on the biome (to be changed).
  • Game timer.
  • Player health bar.
  • XP, level up, and stat upgrade system.
  • Automatic and manual firing modes for the primary weapon.
  • Pause menu.
  • Dynamic player information screen.
  • Sound effects.

Features under development:

  • Extended run-time up to 10 minutes (20 waves + 5 bosses).
  • More enemies and bosses to fill in the 10-minute run-time.
  • Victory/Game over.
  • Different menus (Main menu/permanent upgrades menu/Settings menu, etc.)
  • Crafting tab & crafting system.
  • At least a few more special weapons and player augmentations to craft.
  • Background music.
  • Better player character model and sprite animations.
